Living room
If your family members like to read a lot, then you can consider keeping a lamp behind every reader’s shoulder. The lamp can be kept at a height of about 42 inches above the floor. You can also highlight a art piece using a halogen track lighting or fixing a picture light. To illuminate display and book shelves, you can use accent lights. To make your beautiful wall textures stand out, you can install recessed lighting apart from using dimmers.

Kitchen
The kitchen is a place where you will need sufficient amount of lighting as you will prepare the food for the entire family here. To have general lighting in the kitchen, a grid of recessed ceiling cans will suffice. For lighting the sink and the surrounding areas, you can install individual recessed down-lights. For task lighting, you can go for under-cabinet lights.

Dining rooms
To create a beautiful setting in the dining room, you can place a chandelier above the dining table. You can also use a dimmer. If you have put up a framed art piece in the dining room, then you can highlight it using halogen track lighting. If you are not too pleased with the idea of a chandelier hanging on top of your head, then you can opt for trio of pendant lights.
